glock 33 round magazine review

Glock 33 Round Magazine Review - As I opened the plain gray and white blister pack, holding one magazine, I took the time to read the company narrative on the back of the blister pack. Most of the words were devoted to the history of Glock firearms. These quotes were omitted:

A Glock 34, high capacity magazines, a TruGlo combat light and Gold Dot ammo are also a good combination.

Those are bold claims that no one - Glock fan or not - can disagree with. I have often stated that the Glock is a staple in firearms. Her credibility is solid and unquestionable. Glock is reliable beyond any question and this has been proven in dozens of military, police and institutional tests. If you're spending less than the Glock, then the question is, "What corners have been cut?" If you're paying more than the Glock, then the question is, "What's the advantage?"

Among the proven Glock accessories is the Glock 33-round 9mm magazine. Although there are floor plates and the like that go up to a 19-round magazine, in the Glock 9mm, the 33-round magazine is the big daddy of them all. This magazine was developed for use in the Glock 18, a fully automatic version of the Glock 17 9mm pistol. Unlike most competitors and cheap imitations, the Glock magazine features a steel insert that promotes strength and feed.

The magazine is well finished with good quality control evident. The base support is strong enough to withstand multiple drops and provides good stabilization when carrying a load at speed. I own some that have been pulled during magazine changes and hard practice, and they work fine. On the back of the magazine there are witness holes numbered 5 to 31.

Magazines provide a tactical advantage in home defense - especially if the firearm is a modern 9mm carbine such as the Glock magazine-compatible Kel-Tec Sub 2000. The balance does not significantly change the balance of the Glock 9mm. If anything, the part is more stable with the magazine inserted.

The magazine weighs 20 ounces with a load of 124 grains of ammunition. The correct sequence to load any high capacity magazine is to load three to four rounds, tap the back of the magazine to seat the cartridge case fully into the back of the magazine, and continue until the magazine is loaded. When you load the Glock magazine, there is proper spring pressure at the start. Junk magazines are weak at first and get harder.

The Glock is tough and getting tougher. I can load the magazine to about 29 rounds before I need the Blackhawk! magazine loader. The truth is, the magazine loader makes it easier to get started, but most of us - especially those younger than me - will have some trouble loading the magazine to full capacity.

I tested the 33-round Glock magazine in several Glock pistols, shooting at an angle and even upside down. The magazine did not fail to feed and the pistols did not fail to feed, chamber, fire or fire. The ammunition used was the 124-grain Federal Syntech load - a new load that I think is excellent for practical use. I practice a lot with the Glock and enjoy shooting these pistols.

The 33-round magazines have been left loaded for months and they come out of the shot, even though they are fully loaded. If you want to use the traditional method of unloading one or two rounds, this is fine for long-term use. However, with this magazine I don't find it necessary.

Sgm Tactical 33 Round 9mm Magazine

The 33-round magazine is balanced. It weighs about 20 ounces with a full load of 124-grain bullets.

I often keep this magazine ready in my Glock at home. A 9mm long slide Glock loaded with Speer Dot ammunition that offers a 33 round load is a formidable home defender. Few, if any, of us will have time to grab a flashlight and a spare magazine when the night calls and home invasion teams come in pairs. A 33-round Glock magazine is an excellent option for home defense. It's also a lot of fun on the field and that means a lot of practice.
